Thimphu
Thimphu district spans latitudes 27°8′ to 27°59′ and longitudes 89°13′ to 89°46′, covering an area of approximately 1,795.87 km². With an altitude ranging from 2,100 to 6,800 meters above sea level, the city experiences a temperate climate, featuring warm summer and cold, dry winter. Thimphu is the capital city, about 55km from Paro International Airport. Despite serving as capital city, it serve as winter residence of the Buddhist Monastic body.
Tashichho Dzong

Tashichho Dzong, located on the northern edge of Thimphu along the Wang Chu River, is a historic Buddhist monastery and fortress. Originally built in 1216 by Lama Gyalwa Lhanapa, it was later taken over by Built by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1641 and renamed Tashichho Dzong. Currently, Tashochho Dzong serve as the traditional seat of Bhutan’s civil government, it remains an iconic symbol of Bhutanese culture and governance.
