Examining the Burden and Quality of Life in Family Caregivers of Children with Special Need in Thimphu City
The proposed study aims to explore the stress burden and quality of life (QoL) of informal caregivers of children with special needs in Thimphu, Bhutan. Despite Bhutan’s emphasis on social well-being as a measure of happiness, the well-being of informal caregivers remains understudied. With 6.8% of Bhutan’s population living with disabilities, including children, and traditional family caregiving practices declining due to modernization, rising living costs, and time constraints, there is a pressing need to address the physical, psychological, social, and financial challenges faced by caregivers.
